About StrikerDuel
Every football conversation eventually lands on the same argument: who was better? StrikerDuel exists to give that argument better ammunition. Pick any two of the 133 profiled strikers, from 1960s legends to today's forwards, and see their careers side by side: total goals, season by season scoring, and the silverware that came with it.
How the comparisons work
Age-aligned timelines. Careers are overlaid at the same age rather than the same calendar year, so a striker peaking in 1974 can be read against one peaking in 2024.
Curated honours. Ballons d'Or, league titles, continental cups and international trophies are normalised into a single cabinet so different eras and competitions can stand next to each other.
Roster, not record books. Duels and rankings cover StrikerDuel's profiled legends, not every professional who ever scored. The roster grows over time, and every ranking updates automatically when it does.
Where the data comes from
Career statistics are compiled from public sources, primarily the per-season club and international tables on Wikipedia, then normalised by StrikerDuel's data pipeline and reviewed by hand before publishing.
Football statistics are messy, especially before the 1990s. Where sources disagree, StrikerDuel prefers official competition totals and notes gaps rather than guessing. Some early era appearance counts are incomplete, and unofficial matches are excluded from totals.
